David Kaplan just shared with me some photographs from the Eudora Welty Biennial exhibits at the Mississippi Museum of Art in Jackson, Mississippi. There are four exhibits: “Ruins of Windsor,” “Seawight Sculptures,” “Clarence John Laughlin Photographs,” and “The Pediment Sculptures.” David Kaplan is curator of the Eudora Welty Biennial which runs for twelve weeks, April 10-July 3, 2015 in Jackson, Mississippi. The biennial’s theme is Classical Mississippi and explores Mississippi’s classical Greek heritage.

David Kaplan has also adapted Eudora Welty’s short story “Asphodel” into a stage production for the biennial. The production “Asphodel” is directed by David Kaplan and  features actors Olympia Dukakis, Estelle Parsons, and Brenda Currin. It also incorporates original music by Choctaw flute master Paul Hacker and photographs by Clarence John Laughlin. Having seen the production at the 92nd Street Y earlier this year, I would recommend seeing it in Jackson, MS on June 9, 2015.
