Hansen Publishing Group Authors Win Honors


Hansen Publishing Group authors B.V. Olguín and Gregg Barrios received honors this weekend for their literary achievements.

On Friday night, April 10, 2015, B.V. Olguín won two prizes from two different organizations for his new collection of poems, RED LEATHER GLOVES. He won the silver award in the Poetry/Literary Criticism category from the IBPA 2015 Benjamin Franklin Awards, one of the highest national honors for independent publishers. That same evening at the Texas Institute of Letters annual meeting, B.V. Olguín received second place for the Bob Bush Memorial Award for First Book of Poetry. The Texas Institute of Letters is a non-profit organization that recognizes Texas writers distinctive literary achievement and annually gives awards for published works. Congratulations, Ben for writing a poignant collection of poems, RED LEATHER GLOVES!

On Saturday night, April 11, 2015, author, poet, journalist and playwright Gregg Barrios was inducted into the Texas Institute of Letters at their annual dinner. This is a special honor for Gregg Barrios. Induction into the Texas Institute of Letters is based on literary achievement and cannot be applied for. Congratulations, Gregg on your long and diverse literary career!

Gregg Barrios is author of LA CAUSA, a collection of poems, and RANCHO PANCHO, a play about Tennessee Williams and Pancho Rodriguez, who inspired the character of Stanley Kowalski in A Streetcar Named Desire. Both are published by Hansen Publishing Group. Recently Gregg Barrios interviewed theater critic and author John Lahr for the Los Angeles Review of Books.
