John DiLeo gets mention from Robert Osborne on TCM

John DiLeo's SCREEN SAVERS: 40 Remarkable Movies Awaiting RediscoveryIf you were watching Turner Classic Movies (TCM) last week and caught host Robert Osborne introducing Stars in My Crown (1950), you heard him mention our author John DiLeo and his book, SCREEN SAVERS: 40 Remarkable Movies Awaiting Rediscovery. Robert Osborne paraphrased from John DiLeo’s essay “Stars in My Crown (1950): An Appreciation of Small-Town America,” but here’s the direct quote from the book:

“It’s no small feat to render a long-ago era onto the screen and have it just be. Stars in My Crown is a film that makes you want to go fishing or bake a chocolate cake, even if you’ve never wanted to do these things before. It’s a heart warmer without goo.”

Osborne then led into the movie with, “highly recommended by John DiLeo.”

Fortunately, one of John’s fans recorded it, so you can view Robert Osborne’s introduction on John DiLeo’s Facebook page. John DiLeo also has a blog devoted to classic movies.
