David Kaplan to edit Tennessee Williams book for Hansen Publishing Group

David Kaplan recently signed with Hansen Publishing Group to edit a volume about Tennessee Williams entitled Tenn at One Hundred,  a retrospective collection of edited essays marking Tennessee Williams one hundredth birthday and his legacy as a premier American playwright. It will be published in the fall of 2010.

Here’s Kaplan’s perspective on Tenn at One Hundred:

Tennessee Williams’ centennial in 2011, a little more than twenty-five years after his death, is an occasion to assess his stature. Tenn at One Hundred is a retrospective of the key moments in a hundred years of public recognition of Tennessee Williams’ writing: public praise, condemnation, dismissal, rescue, and renewed appreciation.

As editor of Tenn at One Hundred, David Kaplan will solicit essays from theater journalists, scholars, theater professionals and historical figures for their perspectives on Tennessee Williams’ legacy. Kaplan will write an introduction to the book as well as sectional commentary.

David Kaplan is an author, theater director, teacher of acting, Tennessee Williams scholar, and curator of the Provincetown Tennessee Williams Theater Festival. His most recent books are Tennesse Williams in Provincetown and The Five Approaches to Acting Series.
