Ellen Tovatt Leary’s novel The Understudy garners another review

The Understudy book coverJudd Hollander at StageBuzz just reviewed Ellen Tovatt Leary’s new novel THE UNDERSTUDY. In Hollander’s “Book Review: The Understudy,” he praises THE UNDERSTUDY in the first paragraph:

…a virtual love letter to the theatre, get set for an enjoyable read.

In Hollander’s lengthy review, he points out that THE UNDERSTUDY is not just a love letter to theater and to New York City, but it is also truly a romance:

…The Understudy shows that while true love is never completely perfect, it can come pretty darn close if all parties involved are willing to work at it.

THE UNDERSTUDY takes place in 1970s New York in the heart of the theater district as actress Nina Landau tries to land her first leading role on Broadway. As Hollander says, “…the material gives off just the right nostalgic feel.” Take a walk down the Great White Way. Read THE UNDERSTUDY.
