Author and film historian John DiLeo is appearing at Danbury’s Palace Theatre on Sunday, January 21, 2018 at 2pm. His multimedia presentation is entitled “And You Thought You Knew Classic Movies” is based on his new book Ten Movies at a Time which covers American movies from 1930-1970. Copies of John DiLeo’s books will be available at his presentation for purchase and signing.

Ten Movies at a Time was recently reviewed on popular movie blog Laura’s Miscellaneous Musings.

Through it all DiLeo also helps keep our eye on changing trends in films and the country, from pre-Codes to film noir and beyond. It’s highly readable and enjoyable, whether you’re agreeing with his take, mentally arguing with him, or jotting down titles to watch soon.

About Ten Movies at a Time: It covers four decades of American movies from the advent of the talkies to the emergence of the ratings system, notably the glory days of the studio system, or, as it is more glamorously tagged, the Golden Age of Hollywood.

Through reviews of 350 representative films, author John DiLeo tells an alternative, idiosyncratic history of the movies, focusing on the trends, the sub-genres, the cultural and historical shifts, offering, in the process, the parallel story of America itself.
