rockland instutito cervantes(New York, NY)— On November 19, Michael Aaron Rockland lectured on his new book AN AMERICAN DIPLOMAT IN FRANCO SPAIN at the Instituto Cervantes. The auditorium was near capacity and CSPAN-Book TV was there to record Michael Aaron Rockland talking about his experiences while being a cultural attaché at the American embassy in Madrid, Spain in the 1960s. Rockland spoke to the audience in both English and Spanish about how he avoided shaking hands with Spanish dictator Franco, how he spent a day with Martin Luther King, his meetings with the Kennedys, how his four-year-old son got the part of Sasha in Dr. Zhivago, and how the U.S. accidentally dropped four atomic bombs on Spain.
