About Michael Aaron Rockland

Michael Aaron Rockland is professor emeritus of American Studies at Rutgers University and the author of fifteen books—fiction, memoir, scholarship, and creative nonfiction. Five of his books have received awards. His first book, Sarmiento’s Travels in the United States in 1847 was chosen by The Washington Post as one of the fifty best books of the year. His novel, A Bliss Case, was a New York Times “Notable Book of the Year.” A book he co-wrote, Looking for America on the New Jersey Turnpike, was chosen by the New Jersey State Library as one of the “Ten Best Books Written on New Jersey.” Two other books of his were awarded first prize by the New Jersey Studies Alliance.
